Alright. For those of you who have not read the Halo books, there may be one question going through your head. I'm taking this from a second source."How DID that black guy get off Halo?" Well the Sarge survived because of something we know as "dumb luck". He survived because he got something called Boren's Syndrome. I attacks the central nervous system, and if untreated, is lethal. It can be caused by high lvls of plasma. He was apparintly carrying a shipment of 1000 plasma grenades. They went off, and long story short, hes caught it. Now, in the first Halo, you see Sargent Johnson in the Jenkins video before encountering the flood. You see him and all the other members of the squad get attacked and changed by the flood. Now, when it was all over, Johnson was the only one left. Why? Because the tumors cause by his condition killed the parasitic organisms injected by the infector floods(the little blip things). Apparently, he was immune to the floods grip on the hosts central nervous system. Not only did he survive, the floods dead sells saved him from the lethal components of his disese. He even got the Floods regenerative powers. And now you know.

Did Bungie use that to explain why we can unload hundreds of rounds into his skull without him dying because he is just one of those needed characters and thus is indestructable?

Here's another interesting fact. On Halo(and I'm also referring to the second Halo book), only the Master Chief and Cortana survived.(There were actually more survivors, but you learn about them in the third...) So, when you play Halo, sometimes you probably think "What is everyone else doing while i do all the work?" Well, while the Master Chief is fighting the Covenant and the Flood, the HellJumpers(the name given to the guys in the drop pods) were fighting to get back the Pillar of Autumn. They actually did secure the Pillar of Autumn's crash site for awhile. They also boarded the Truth and Reconciliation as a means of escaping Halo when they learned what the Chief planned to do. Of course, there were Flood on board so taking the ship back to Earth would kill everyone. So, after being unsuccessful at swaying the General's decision, the Lieutenant took it upon herself to cause the ship to self-destruct. This act saved the whole human race. And that is why everyone died.

Woohoo for HellJumpers ( that's me) Anyways, I never read the books but how did Johnson get the Scarab at the end of play for the second game? It never really explained how he managed to get the whole damn thing.

Unfortunatly, the books only lead up to Halo 2, but they dont say anything about the game. Im sure he just "confiscated it", but i cant say for sure.

Now I was suprised the first time i read this. When you play the Halo, Master Chief seems to be the only Spartan around. In Halo 2, they cleverly never mention the fact that he could be the only one. That is because on the way back to Earth, Master Chief actually located 8-10 more Spartans. The others were "MIA". By the end of the trilogy, the books left us with a total of 5 know Spartans still living. Why they dont show up in Halo 2 I dont know, but i get the feeling they will make their apperance in Halo games to come.

You guys know that MasterChief isn't the only spartan. There are two more, and Dr. Halsey flew off with one.... So technically there's actually 4 alive.
