Everything was dark, and all he could hear were the warning alarms from the pelican's security systems. Minous open his eyes to see the all-too-familiar red glow of the lights in the inside of the downed ship. He looked around, hoping there was someone still alive. He felt his gut turn as he saw the lifeless expression of a fellow soldier a few feet away from him. He stood up, went over to the pilot's seat.
"Impact imminent, Impact im-" He slammed the "snooze" button.
"Really...?" He said sarcasticlly to himself. No sooner did he say that when he heard the stirring. Minous looked over with much relief to find a fellow soldier still alive. He hurried over to the collapsed comrade. He wasnt seroiusly injuried.
He shouldered his brother-in-arms and headed to the dropship's door. Luckily, the concil still worked. He pressed the "Release" button and a blinding light rushed in. As it cleared, Minous saw the faces of Covenant soldiers with guns at the ready...

Trenal bursted out of his pod, and quickly was relieved to both have the temple in sight and see most of his men around him. He counted quickly and realized that two were misdropped. He had no idea where they were, there were no signs of them. "Damn, I've already lost men!" Trenal scolded himself in his defeat. "Fall into formation and follow me!" He said as he readied his SMG and made a hand motion to double time it, as Trenal didnt know how much time he had left. The various men formed behind him. He grabbed a soldier with a Battle Rifle and told the Spec ops soldier to get his butt onto the hill and scope out for enemies. Upon recieving the order, the soldier ran to the top of the hill, crouched down, scoped around, and came back. "The Pelican is over there sir," he said, making a hand motion, "There are some bogies over there, mostly grunts and a few elites." "Alright Private, fall in. Everyone, move out!" Mattrik replied and ordered. He ran with his squad over to the direction of the Pelican and dropped down, signaled for his men to do so, and crawled so he could just see the enemies. He motioned for his men to stop and looked around carfully, and spotted his two missing men crouching behind a rock near the temple. He told his men to come next to him and to take aim. "Okay," he wispered, "FIRE!"

Minous readied himself for the sting of plasma, when he heard the sound of familiar of gunfire. He almost dropped soldier he was carrying when he saw the Special Forces rolling over the hill, guns blazing. He ran back inside, put the marine against the wall of the ship, grabbed his BR and some scattered Frags, and headed outside to join the party...

Trenal unloaded his SMG on a suprised elite with his shields down, and didn't stop until he saw a grunt take aim at his face when three BR rounds came out of the ship into the grunt's head. The bloody carcass dropped. Mattrik hoped that there were more Marines alive then just this one. He hoped for about 10 alive, at least 5. Looking around quickly as he reloaded, Trenal spotted the two Special Ops running to behind the temple. As they ran, one of the turrets shot a soldier, uninterrupted fire until the soldier was on the ground and surely dead because of the hold burned through his abdomen. Trenal's stomache leaped when he saw reinforcements of grunts, with an Elite at their lead, coming out of the temple just as the second soldier ran behind it. "Motherfu-" he started to say when a searing bolt of plasma whizzed past his head. His men finished off the enemies gaurding the pelican, and he quickly had his men set up a sandbag-like wall of the enemy bodies, facing the oncoming grunts. "Take up defensive positions, if you are wounded, get your rear end into that goddam Pelican and gather weapons and ammo. Trenal yelled out to the soldier, evidently a Lance Corporal, that was hit, saying, "Lance Corporal, how long do you think you can stay there?" "If they don't kill me I can stay he for a long, long time Sergeant. The heat from the bolts stopped the bleeding." The Grunts still had about 100 yards to go. Trenal ran into the Pelican and checked the status of the Marines. There was one alive and one unconsious. This time nobody was here to stop him, "Goddamming Alien motherf**kers!" he yelled. There was only one ready to defend. None the less, the Marine had a battle rifle and grenades, with a pistol. He was a private. "Private, what is your name and who isi this?" Mattrik asked, pointing to the unconsious fellow, "Oh and take up a defensive position outside the Pelican at the wall." As Trenal awaited his response, he looked around. One man had been hit indirectly in the arm and was waiting for the clear to kill more aliens. Another had been shot in the thigh, and blood was slowly coming out of his mouth. Trenal pulled aside one of his men that had some medical experience and told him to fix up the soldier, and gave the other the clear to fight. The grunts were but 50 yards away, withing BR firing range. "Battle rifles, Fire at grunts, kill as many as you can. Once they are closer, fire headshots at Elites and concentrate all fire on one before moving on." Trenal wasn't sure what else to do as a squad leader, he had 9 men set up at a wall of bodies, some of them aiming, and would have ten once the Marine was ready. He turned back to the Marine and awaited a response.

"Private Minous, sir. This is Private Retnuh Ritz. We are with the 109th Marine Corps. Phoenix Platoon sir. We were doing reconnasiance when our Pelican got shot down. We are the only two left sir."
He watched in awe as the SpecOps secured the perimeter. It was a sight. He headed over to the improvised sand wall.

Sergeant Mattrik's headphone comes to life.
"The Pelican you guys dropped out of is some height above you looking for more enemies...they found some. They must have another underground base or something nearbye because about 100 grunt sized objects just appeared out of nowhere and are on their way to you, *static* my way *static* take cover *static* 3 min....*static*

Trenal swore loudly upon hearing the transmission. The charging covenant enemies were being suppressed under withering fire, so he took some bioform from the spec ops medic helping the seriously wounded man, and administered it as the private said, "But sir that's only for-" And then after Mattrik administered some, "emergencies...." Trenal told the private that he was to grab his gear and set up behind a rock or tree or something and to take out any enemies coming from the rear or flanks. "Just a precaution." He assured the Private, although Mattrik knew otherwise. At least they were all grunts. Trenal aimed with his SMG and fired into a grunt about to throw a plasma grenade. The grenade luckily dropped and stuck onto the Elite's foot, and exploded, killing him and a grunt next to him. After killing off most of the enemies with only minor wounds to the defenders, he repositioned all his men around the pelican and suddenly had an Idea. Trenal called the marine to him and told him to salvage any machine guns from the Pelican that he could, as he appeared to be a weapons officer. Trenal could get one, or ideally two, mounted, he could take out the enemies much faster. (OOC: Elidor I believe you should determine weather or not he succeeds in this) Trenal set up in the direction of the temple, but not before running into the pelican and swapping his weapon with a BR from a wounded man that was fully loaded. Trenal got on his radio and asked for a supply drop at the downed pelican. He could use the ammo for his men. Trenal ran back the way he came and, climbing to the top of the hill, spotted the turrets and silently moved around to a position where he had a clear shot at one of the turretsmen with as much cover as possible. He fired 9 rounds then rolled away out of sight. (OOC elidor I think you should determine weather I killed the enemy or not too, as usually they were grunts on the turrets but I suppose there could have been an elite.)

(Admin: 1. You find one M247 GPMG Machine Gun Turret that used to be connected to the Pelican, you also find a tripod to switch with the pole thats normaly attached to the Pelican 2. Luckily the shield on the turret was already red due to it being hit so many times. First shot hits, taking out the shield, second burst misses, third burts hits the grunt in the head and it drops dead.)

Trenal crawls up and sees that the grunt is dead. Trenal then gets immediatley into the turret and, even without the sheild, fires on the second turret until it is destroyed (OOC: tell us how it went down, Elidor ) once that is done, Trenal gets out of the turret and shoots it in the barrel, spray paints in the firing system and does every act possible to sabotage it with the weapons he has. Trenal then does the same to the other turret and looks around for the Soldier that he saw flee behind the temple. (OOC: three things, one tell us if I succeeded please and also tell us if I found the trooper, and I seem to remember you saying there were two turrets, but if there are more, then I basically do the same thing to all of them that I did to the second.)

(Admin: You find the soldier in a corner with multiple weak plasma burns, wimpering in a futile position in pain. The turrets will shoot but go off in the wrong dirrection and if shot for 2 seconds blows up. Turrets gone.

Minous found the M247 GPMG Machine Gun Turret from the Pelican, grabbed the nearby tripod, and set up the turret defense right behind the sand wall.

Sergeant Trenal took the wimpering soldier and helped him up, then hurried him to the pelican. He passed by Private Minous, and told him to move the MG so it was on top of the Pelican, if he could get up there. Mattrik said that if he couldn't, he should set it up when he sees enemies approaching and let the man he just carried in do the firing.
